Obon holiday in the middle of August in Japan

From 13th to 16th August, we have festival called obon. It is a traditional event to welcome the spirits of ancestors.

こっちが休みだから向こうも休み、ってわけにはいかない。海外旅行は相手先の国の祝日をしっかり把握しておくべし。

日本の場合はお盆

死者をお迎えする風習は日本だけじゃなく、韓国、中国、台湾、インドでもある。京都の場合は五山の送り火。８月１６日の夜、山に大の字が灯る。その明かりでまた、あの世へ戻ることが出来るという。Buddhist priest has come to my parents’ house.

Many shops are closed during obon. People come back to their parents’ house. Traffic jam. Everywhere is crowded. この期間はほとんどのお店休み。
